| Q2. What is WebCT and what does it stand for? |
| A: WebCT (Web Course Tools) is a web product developed by the University of British Columbia and is designed to publish courses on the web with many interactive tools such as Newsgroups, Interactive Chat, Email, Online Testing, etc. |
| Q3. What are the minimum requirements that my computer must have? |
A: Windows 98, NT, 2000, XP
Processor: Pentium 133MHz (350+ MHz recommended)
Memory: 32 MB RAM or better (128 MB RAM recommended)
CD ROM: Double Speed or Higher
Internet Connectivity: Local or National ISP Internet Service Provider (ISP) (AOL not recommended)
Modem: 33.6 Kbps (56Kbps – V.90 complaint or better recommended)
Cable or DSL Broadband prefered
Netscape 7.0 (Netscape 4.7x to 4.8, 6.0 and 6.1are not supported)

A: Go to PALS - http://www.accd.edu/PALS
Select your college
If this is your first time logging into ePortal, follow steps 1 & 2
Otherwise, login to ePortal with your User ID and Password.
Once in ePortal, select the “My Courses” tab
Click on the link relative to the course they are taking using WebCT. |
| Q6. Where can I find my Internet Course once I login to PALS? |
| A: Login to PALS and click on the “My Courses” tab. Here you will find all the courses you have enrolled for.
Simply click on the link associated with your Internet course and it will log you in automatically into WebCT.
As this point you should see the course homepage. If you cannot, please contact your instructor immediately. |
| Q7. Could I access WebCT from home? |
| A: WebCT is accessible as long as you have an internet connection with a supported web browser. You must be using Netscape 3.0 or higher or Internet Explorer 4.01 or better. Simply click on GoTo WebCT on the WebCT tab at the top. |

| A: Contact the Distance Education Department of a specific college to view or enroll into WebCT courses. Links to the these departments are on the home page. |
| Q10. How can I submit an assignment using the Assignments feature? |
A: Submitting Assignments
To upload completed assignments, click on the Assignments icon.
Click the hyperlinked name of the assignment you want to submit. The Assignment Instructions screen appears.
To choose which file to upload, click Student Files. The View/Upload Files For Assignments screen appears.
Click Upload. The Upload File For Assignment screen appears.
To locate the file, click Browse to open your computer's browser.
Select the file by clicking on it. The Upload File For Assignments screen reappears, with the name of the file in the Filename text box.
To upload the file, click Upload. The View/Upload Files For Assignments screen reappears.
Click the Return to Assignment hyperlink. The Assignment Instructions screen reappears.
To submit the assignment, click Submit Assignment. The Submit Assignment screen appears. If your instructor has enabled WebCT's email notification feature, you can receive email notification that your assignment was submitted successfully. Type your email address into the text box. If your instructor has not enabled the email notification feature, this text box will not appear.
Click Submit Assignment. A confirmation box appears asking you to confirm the procedure.
Click OK. The Assignments screen reappears, with the message Not Graded appeari

| Q11. I am a Mac User and am having problems accessing my WebCT course. What is happening? |
| A: Mac's are coming installed with the “Safari” browser installed be default. ePortal, which is your gateway to access WebCT does not work well using the Safari browser.
However, Mac's do work seemlessly with Internet Explorer version 5.2.2. Click here to download IE 5.2.2.

| A: Please check your Internet options as follows:
- From your Internet Explorer menu select “TOOLS“
- From the drop down menu select “INTERNET OPTIONS“
- Click on the “CONTENT“ tab
- Make sure that the “Content Advisor“ option is DISABLED.

| Q13. Why is the HTML Editor feature not working on my Windows XP PC? |
| A: You may need to install or upgrade Java Runtime Environment.
To check if you have it installed go to:
- Start
- Control Panel
- Add or Remove Programs
- Look for “Java Runtime Environment“
If you do not have it present, click on the URL below to download and install it:
http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
If you have it installed, but you are still having problems using the HTML Editor:
- Remove “Java Runtime Enviroment“ from the Add or Remove Programs
- Once it is completely removed, use the URL above to re-download and install Java Runtime Environment.
